After a premiere on the Cour d'honneur of the prestigious Festival d'Avignon, an international tour follows. Here Opera ballet Vlaanderen presents FUTUR PROCHE together with TEMPUS FUGIT by Johan Inger. This Swedish choreographer had previously blown our dancers and spectators away with B.R.I.S.A. Now he returns with TEMPUS FUGIT: a penetrating, danced exploration of the mourning process and the wearing away of time to the hopeful keyboard music of Johann Sebastian Bach.
FUTUR PROCHE by Belgium's top choreographer Jan Martens will soon premiere at the Festival d' Avignon. In FUTUR PROCHE he is building a performance about the imminent future with fifteen dancers, two children and harpsichordist Goska Isphording. Conversely, in TEMPUS FUGIT Johan Inger searches for hope and consolation in times of mourning with Johann Sebastian Bach on a modern piano.
After two previous successful productions, Martens again finds inspiration in surprising, contemporary repertoire for the centuries-old harpsichord. Armed with this, he searches for alternatives to omnipresent, dark images of the future.
