Dansersfonds '79 honors Samuel Wuersten during Nederlands Balletgala
18 October 2023
Dansersfonds of Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar is dedicating the twenty-fifth edition of its Nederlands Balletgala (Dutch Ballet Gala) to Samuel Wuersten. In doing so, the fund wishes to honor Samuel for all his efforts for dance in the Netherlands over the past three decades.
Han Ebbelaar: "Samuel Wuersten is an important bridge-builder and link within the international and Dutch dance world. With his warm personality, he dedicates himself tirelessly and everywhere to dance, impressively connecting institutions, initiatives and dance styles. Under his leadership, the Holland Dance Festival has developed into a leading international dance festival, introducing the Netherlands to an enormous diversity of high-quality dance productions from all over the world at every edition."
Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar, the most famous ballet couple the Netherlands has ever known, are organizing for the twenty-fifth time the Nederlands Balletgala of the Dansersfonds '79 (Dancers Fund '79), which they founded. This year, too, all the major Dutch dance companies will make their appearance during this special benefit performance for the benefit of young and proven Dutch dance talent.
In addition to the tribute to Samuel Wuersten, the evening features other wonderful highlights. During this year's gala tribute, Nederlands Dans Theater dances Crystal Pites' critically acclaimed Ten Duets on a Theme of Rescue, Introdans shows a part from its recent full-length hit production Carmen, and the Dutch National Ballet performs two breathtaking, vituperative duets from David Dawson's The Four Seasons and William Forsythe's Pas/Parts 2018, respectively. There are also contributions from Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Conny Janssen Danst and the Dutch National Ballet's Junior Company. In short: the ideal opportunity to become (re)acquainted with the top of Dutch dance!
