Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar, the most famous ballet couple the Netherlands has ever known, are organizing the Nederlands Balletgala (Dutch Ballet Gala) of the Dansersfonds '79, which they founded, for the twenty-fifth time.
Even this year, all the major Dutch dance companies will make their appearance during this special benefit performance for the benefit of young and proven Dutch dance talent. The Dansersfond '79 has decided to dedicate the twenty-fifth edition of its Nederlands Balletgala to Samuel Wuersten. In so doing, the fund wishes to honor Samuel for all his efforts on behalf of Dutch dance over the past three decades. Han Ebbelaar: "Samuel Wuersten is an important bridge-builder and link within the international and Dutch dance world. With his warm personality, he dedicates himself tirelessly and anywhere for dance, impressively connecting institutions, initiatives and dance styles in the process."
Highlights during this year's gala edition include Crystal Pite's acclaimed Ten Duets on a Theme of Rescue (Nederlands Dans Theater 2), a part from the recent, full-length hit production Carmen (Introdans) and two breathtaking, virtuoso duets from David Dawson's The Four Seasons and William Forsythe's Pas/Parts 2018 (both Dutch National Ballet), respectively. ok there are contributions from Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Conny Janssen Danst and the Junior Company of the Dutch National Ballet. In short: the ideal opportunity to become (re)acquainted with the top of Dutch dance!
During the Dutch Ballet Gala, you will have the opportunity to get to know (again) the cream of Dutch dance in one evening. At the same time, by coming you will also be contributing to the important work of Dansersfonds '79. For almost 45 years, Radius and Ebbelaar have supported and encouraged Dutch dance with this fund, which awards grants, special gifts, Incentive Prizes and Merit Awards to Dutch dancers and dancers working in the Netherlands.
