Due to great success, Holland Dance Festival and Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam are organizing the fifth edition of Holland Dance Festival @ The Grand on Wednesday 1 to Saturday 4 March 2023. An exclusive event in the historic Raadzaal of the magnificent hotel, where haute cuisine and top dance come together.
The magnificent hotel Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam will once again form the backdrop for this performance. As the former headquarters of the Dutch Admiralty and the City Hall of Amsterdam, The Grand has a rich history. The footsteps of a bygone era echo in the corridors and the rich history shows itself in the legendary service, the fantastic decor and the inspiring culinary propositions. The performance takes place in the Council Chamber, built in 1926, where you are seated at tables for two around the dancers. Thanks to this intimate setting, you get the chance to see the person behind the dancer during the performance. The performances are danced by the Codarts Dance Company, which consists of the international top talents of Codarts Rotterdam: the hotspot for contemporary dance in the Netherlands. The program not only shows the versatility of these young dancers, but is also an enchanting collage of choreographic styles. The program is a good introduction to the multifaceted palette of contemporary dance, with existing repertoire by top international choreographers and work created especially for the dancers. It is an infectious, high-level show in which passion and energy burst from the stage: every year, every year different.
The dance performances are interspersed with a four-course dinner, led by master chef Raoul Meuwese. His enormous talent and continuous pursuit of the ultimate level match the high quality of the gastronomy. Meuwese cooks according to classic French tradition, but with a modern twist. He likes "subtle flavors and not too heavy dishes. "I try to use honest and natural products as much as possible and I always go with the seasons." The chef also likes to be inspired by art and nature. "You can draw beautiful comparisons to that when thinking about dishes," he says. He therefore firmly believes in the combination of his haute cuisine and the performances by the dancers of Codarts Dance Company: "Contemporary dance fits very well with my way of cooking, and the concept of Holland Dance Festival @ The Grand also fits in very well with The Grand. I think we and Holland Dance Festival also attract the same audience: people who love art and the good life and consciously choose artistic excellence."
