Feast of recognition
"A schoolyard is really society in miniature," Van Leth said. "It is a magical place where first loves blossom, where jealousy can take root, where friendships are forged and power struggles and challenges take place. It is also the place where boredom sometimes reigns supreme, but where at the same time you overcome your fears." Ever since the first preparatory workshop, the choreographer has been looking forward to the creation process: "Among the participating seniors were such distinctive figures, with such striking heads, and the beauty of getting older is also: you are much more indifferent to what others think, so these dancers dare to expose themselves completely." Pause Paradise, she says, will be a performance with quite a bit of humor, and both the youngest viewers and the older audience will be able to identify with it, also in terms of the choice of music. "It should really be a party."
Pauzeparadijs Good [old] Times Lonneke van Leth
Dance belongs to and is for everyone. That is why during this festival we present another edition of Good [old] Times, our biennial production for dancers aged 55 and older, which this time has a very special meaning. While previous Good [old] Times productions have usually revolved around themes related to aging - melancholy, nostalgia, unfulfilled dreams - this time, under the direction of choreographer Lonneke van Leth, the seniors move to the schoolyard. In a sparkling family performance for young and old, Van Leth and her dancers return to the place where you spent hours as a child, a place steeped in memories; wonderful ones, but also less rosy ones.
